off the grid....
No cell service....
No Internet.....
Off the grid.....
You couldn't have gotten a hold of us if you tried.....
With worries upon worries at home....
broken appliances.....
flooded basements,
leaky sinks....
approaching school year....
it. was. time.
We packed up.
Headed out.
Up to the mountains.....
Beneath the trees,
we took breaths full of fresh air....
We ran,
and hiked,
and fished,
and played.....
We laughed,
We breathed....
We (I) had our first headache free day in months....
We watched butterflies and bumblebees....
We ate s'mores and donuts......
We watched the stars...
We heard nature....
We spent time together....
with no distractions.
Just the 5 of us....
There was nothing keeping us from each other....
Relaxing.
Refreshing.
Nothing feels better to this mom than being with my family.....
and being with them in such a way that they were it.
There wasn't the added stress of meetings and phone calls.....
emails and errands....
There was the task of keeping Parky safe....but his smiles and laughter makes the stress of that melt away.......worth it.
Parklen hiked further on his own this week than all other hikes of his life combined....
We reminisced about the last family hike we had taken......
We had to leave almost as soon as we had began.....Parklen could not bear the weight.....
even while being carried, he was too sick to go. He sobbed from pain, he begged to return home....and so we did.
This week we hiked more than 4 miles.
and most of which Parklen trekked on his own two feet....
There was climbing, creek crossing and bee dodging required.....
he was tired....
but he ventured on.
Do you know what it is like to watch a miracle hike up a mountain side?
I do.
There is nothing like it....
Nothing like watching a big brother help to push him forward or lift him up when he falls....
A dad and daughter laughing together up ahead....
Wide open spaces....
The world through my camera lens....
My world.....
There in front of me.....
No Internet.....
Off the grid.....
