Unofficial official birthday post.......
Last week was really something.
I mean....
really. something.
Parklen turned seven....
Leading up to his birthday I shed many a tear....
for so so many reasons.
We made plans,
plans to celebrate...
and to make his birthday special.
But,
we all know my history with making plans.
One thing led to another and we ended up in the Emergency room with Paysen in the middle of the day, and the plans for Parklen's birthday celebration stopped.
We had to push pause.
Hold off on the plan.
However....we made due.
The day after his birthday, Parklen was able to take cupcakes into his class at school.
This. Is. A big deal.
It was the first time that he had stepped foot into his classroom....
and although he had to wear his mask, and couldn't have contact with the kids....
he was thrilled.
You could see his smile behind his mask.....
Feel his excitement as he placed a treat in front of each of his classmates.....
He squirmed with delight as they sang him happy birthday.....
A couple of days after his birthday, when Paysen was feeling better, we took Parklen out for a special dinner. It was his choice, anywhere he chose!
I get a very deep satisfaction from watching Parklen do normal things....
my heart grows in immeasurable sizes.
When I see a smile about some rice,
or hear a chuckle from the site of fire....
When sitting in a public restaurant is a big deal....
When a kid thinks that a meal out with his family is the best thing that's happened in a while....
Appreciating these simplicities...
to me, It is what life is all about.
Parklen's birthday party was postponed because of the snow we got!! I promise though..it will be a celebration to remember!
Live your life as if every moment was a gift...as though you weren't guaranteed the next.... Live like every minute, hour and day is worth celebrating....
Happy Birthday Parklen.....
